Personal Fitness Assessment
*required prior to training sessions*
The purpose of the personal fitness assessment is to identify the baseline fitness level of an individual. The results from the personal fitness assessments are used to develop and prescribe the proper training program to meet an individual's needs and goals. Each fitness assessment is about 50-60 minutes in duration.
The battery of tests performed include:
The Ebbling Treadmill Test
This test is performed to measure the aerobic fitness level of a subject. The client performs aerobic work under specific conditions* to determine aerobic fitness. The test takes about 10 minutes.
*(speed may vary from 2.5 to 4.5 mph and 0 to 5% grade)
Sit-and-Reach Flexibility Test
This test is performed to measure back and hamstring flexibility. The subject sits at a specifically designed box and extend arms as far forward as possible. The average distance of 3 attempts is recorded.
1-rep Maximum Leg Press
This test is performed to measure the lower body strength. After a proper warm up, the subject will attempt to perform a 1 repetition maximum leg press. The score is normalized for individual body weight.
Endurance Chest Press
This test is performed to measure upper body muscular endurance. The subject will perform as many reps as possible in one minute using the standard weight. The weight for men is 80 lbs. and 35 lbs. for women.
1-minute Half Sit Ups
This test is performed to measure abdominal muscle endurance. The subject lies on the testing mat. As instructed the subject performs as many half sit ups as possible in 1 minute.
